Alex the Music Man is a mobile music therapy service run by Alex Hocking, a Registered Music Therapist with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music Therapy. Alex has more than eight years of experience running music therapy programs in schools, disability services and aged care across Greater Sydney. He started the business so clients could have consistent, collaborative therapy with the same therapist every week.
Every program is built with you, whether you are a teacher, carer, coordinator or family member. Alex and his team run group sessions in mainstream classrooms, support units and schools for specific purposes, group programs in disability day programs, community hubs and supported independent living homes, and sessions in nursing homes and dementia units. NDIS participants can also have one-on-one sessions that line up with their plan goals.
Music therapy supports social connection, communication, emotional regulation, sensory processing, motor skills and memory. Sessions are mobile and fully resourced, so Alex brings the instruments and everything else needed, and all you need to provide is a space.
Alex the Music Man works across Western Sydney, Penrith, the Blue Mountains and the Hills District, as well as the wider Greater Sydney area.
