Mountains and River is a free local directory for small businesses across the Blue Mountains, Penrith and the Hawkesbury. We built it to help local businesses get seen, and to help locals get to know the people behind them.
We are Jordan and Simone, and we have lived in this part of the world all our lives. We grew up here, we work here, and we run JS Website Design from Emu Plains, where we have helped local businesses with their websites and their Google presence since 2017.
Over that time we have seen how hard it is to run a small business. The long hours, rising costs and tough seasons are all part of it, and a lot of owners feel like they are doing it on their own.
We have also watched too many local businesses get let down, by marketing companies that overpromise and underdeliver, and by support that never quite seems to reach the people actually doing the work.
Mountains and River is our way of doing something about it. It is a free place for local businesses to be seen, and for the community to get to know the people behind them. We want to see Penrith, the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury grow and thrive, and we think that starts with backing the businesses that make this area what it is.

We write every profile properly and offer free video interviews, so you can hear from the owner before you pick up the phone.
We check every listing before it goes live and we never sell your details. If we ever offer paid extras, they will always be clearly labelled.
Browse businesses by area or category, read about the people behind them, and contact them directly. There is nothing to sign up for, and your enquiry goes straight to the business.
Listing your business is free, with no contracts or lead fees. We check your details, write up your profile with you and can record a short video interview so people can meet you.
